Day 31

I did take some images today however I have deleted them all.  Does this tell me I am becoming more crital of my results?  Any way thought I would share another gum pattern with you.

Day 30

Time to start moving from the comfort of the back garden.  This was taken at Backwash beach late this afternoon.

Day 29

I have cheated today.  This is an image from a few days ago however I have spent the day with my good friend, and mentor, Rob calibrating my printer and didn't get out with my camera.  I have learnt a lot though.  One of the major things is to first read the front of the box which tells you to download a profile for that paper, secondly when the paper isn't listed for the printer don't assume another paper will work.  After lots of time Rob went home and couldn't rest until he researched more and we have finally come up with a pretty good print at last.  Thanks Rob.

Day 24

I've been waiting for this bud to open on the ginger plant and it finally happened today.

Day 23

More bark patterns.  This one from, I think, a snake tree.

Day 22

It is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit.  I hope this is one that will last.  Today we went to Sea Acres Resturant for lunch.  (For those that don't know, Sea Acres is a Rainforest and is a National Park about one kilometre from our house.  The resturant is one of our favourite lunch places.  We decided to go for a walk around the boardwalk and as I now have my old camera in the car all the time I took some images.  These seeds have survived another day.  The bats love them.

Day 21

I went out this morning and took some images I wasn't particularly happy with so decided tonight I would share this image with you.  It is one I took yesterday at the gum tree and after I finished the blog last night started playing in Lightroom with the saturation, vibrance, clarity and contrast as well as the exposure panel.  I really liked the jewel colours that I pulled up from the original.

Day 16

Finally found someone adding their name to one of the hundreds of autographed rocks along the Breakwall.  This is a favourite activity for tourists and locals alike.

Day 15

I feel tonight I have reached the top of a high mountain and can now see over the otherside.  I pressed the send button to send of the APSCON 2011 Program and Registration form away to be printed for the next issue of APS Image.  Planning the program has been huge however we are happy with the final outcome.  I then went into my TBB Folio and caught up with the month's comments.  What a great Folio this is.  Then to cap it off two of the thorns that have been sticking in to me have decided to move on.  What a day.  By the time I went out with my camera this evening I had no idea what I would photograph and this frangipani was lying on a piece of old wood in the back garden. The softness and bright contrast against the old rough wood just beckoned me.

Day 14

Went to a concert last night at our beautiful Glasshouse and saw Joe Robinson an incredible young guitarist who grew up west of Kempsey.  He went to Nashville US to record his first album and now, as he proudly told the audience last night, he is now 19 and grown up enough to live in Nashville by himself.  He has just completed a 3 months tour through Eastern Europe.  Today found me clicking around the gum tree at our house.  I think the koala helps the bark shed faster than it should.

Day 12

These are not images I am particularly excited about however I missed yesterday, ahh, and today has been so wet and miserable as well as windy that I had trouble even keeping the camera still on a tripod.  Great opportunity though to continue the raindrop theme.

Day 9

These little rain drops dropping from plants and flowers are my current challenge.

Day 8

I've cheated tonight. Had a visitor arrive to stay this morning and spent the day chatting.  This is another raindrop shot from yesterday.

Day 7

I had another try at the raindrops this morning early whilst it was very overcast.  Different lights create very different images.  The white 'teeth' are the tiny hairs along the edge of the leaf.

Day 6

I've been trying to capture raindrops falling from leaves. I have found the wax leaves on succulent plants seem to hold the droplets longest.  This is one from today's efforts.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Well the rain has finally moved south, lovely soft rain. Wednesday is my golf day and then a friend calls in for a red and a chat consequently it was 7.pm when I went out with the camera tonight.  I hand held this shot at 1/10sec at f5.6 ISO 500.  A bit of sharping in PS.

Day 4

Last year these were in easy reach, this year the tree has grown so much I had to stand back and take them from a distance however these beautiful blossoms are just spectacular in the late afternoon light.

Day 2

The hardest part of today was finding the blog address to send to people to keep me honest.  It took a while however if you are reading this I now have it right!!!
Today's image is of a tiny feather that caught on the edge of a palm.
